When I came to, my hands were tied behind my back and my legs were bound together with some sort of clamp. Clearly, they knew about our powers. As my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I got my first look at my surroundings. The room was relatively small, with a few crates stacked on top of each other and something moving in the corner.

Oh my god. “Aubs!” I shouted as a lump rose in my throat.

“Aubs, is that you?”

A light cough followed by a soft murmuring came from from the body across the room.

“Aubs,” I said again as the body began to stir.

“Ya, it’s me. Where in the world are we?”

I breathed a sigh of relief as at least I knew she wasn’t dead.

“Well, for shorts, we’re on a ship headed to who knows where and…”

“I’m sorry, did you say we’re on a ship?”

“Yes, what part didn’t you get - the ship part or the fact we’re on it?”

“It was definitely the ‘we’re on it’ part,” Aubrey replied back as a laugh escaped her mouth causing me to smile. “On the real though, what are we going to do?” We don’t know where we are, where we’re headed, or what’s going to happen to us.”

“Well, Aubs, sounds like we need to think of a plan. But first things first, let’s do something about these chains,” I say as a smirk grew across my face.

The door to our holding place opened and three figures walked inside the room. Two men held their weapons at the ready as a woman who appeared to be the leader of the group walked forward into the room.

The lights in the room flicked on, and now we could see the woman in full. Silver, layered hair, double-braided, revealed a menacing face. Piercing gray eyes stared intensely at Aubrey and I as if we were some sort of animals. She wore black pants tucked into black boots and a black shirt with an emblem on it.

The mention of the word “quick” left Aubrey and I quite confused as this was our first time hearing someone refer to our abilities as such.

“Before we land and you are taken to the slave barracks, I have a few questions for you.”

“Excuse me, you said slave barracks?” I asked, doing my best to keep my fear subdued. “And just where are we headed, if you don’t mind me asking.”

Commander Douglass pondered it over for a second, “Fine, I’ll entertain your questions. We are headed to Pandora, the home of the Fifth Order. Upon landing, you will be transported to slave barracks, where we will figure out what to do with you. Now, if you are done asking questions, I’ll be asking a few of my own.”

Aubrey and I exchanged looks knowing that we had no other option but to escape as soon as we landed.

“Where are you from and what kind of abilities do you possess that make my soldiers so wary of you two?”

Neither Aubrey or I were going to talk that easy and give away our biggest advantage at the moment, the element of surprise.
